Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 6" x ¾" round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and matcha.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar using a hand mixer until light and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated between additions.
- Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 33–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake layers cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- Prepare the frosting by creaming butter and powdered sugar, then adding vanilla and milk until smooth.
- Level the cake layers, spread matcha frosting between them, and stack the layers.
- Garnish with fresh kiwi slices and, if desired, a sprinkle of matcha.
- Slice and serve to enjoy your Mizuba Matcha Kiwi Cake.
