- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it activate for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Stir in olive oil, then gradually add flour and salt. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth, then let rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour.
- Prepare the za’atar topping by blending za’atar spice with extra virgin olive oil. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Once dough has risen, divide it into four pieces and shape into balls. Roll out each ball into an 8-inch circle.
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Place rolled flatbreads on a baking sheet, apply za’atar mixture, then press lightly.
- Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes until golden brown and aromatic.
- Allow to cool slightly, then serve accompanied by fresh vegetables or dips.
