  • 1.5 cups Margarine Butter can be used as an alternative.
  • 0.5 cups SPLENDA® Naturals Sugar & Stevia Sweetener Blend Substitute with 3/4 cup traditional granulated sugar if preferred.
  • 1 tablespoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 3.25 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 3 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 0.125 teaspoon Salt
For the Filling
  • 11.5 ounces Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 0.75 cups Chopped Maraschino Cherries Juices drained.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and prepare a 9x13 baking dish by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together 1 ½ cups of margarine and ½ cup of SPLENDA® Naturals Sugar & Stevia Sweetener Blend using an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract and ½ teaspoon of almond extract to the mixture and mix at low speed until just combined.
  4. Whisk together 3 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour, 3 tablespoons of cornstarch, and ⅛ teaspoon of salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in 11.5 ounces of dark chocolate chips using a spatula.
  7. Fold in ¾ cup of chopped maraschino cherries, being careful to maintain their shape.
  8. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and cool completely in the pan before transferring to the refrigerator for about an hour to set.
  11. Allow to come to room temperature before cutting into 48 squares.
