Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 package 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese until well blended.
  3. Add the cooked and crumbled sausage to the cheese mixture, stirring until evenly distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the sausage and cheese mixture, stirring until just combined. If using, fold in the chopped parsley for added flavor and color.
  6. Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the balls are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
