  • 4 pieces fresh or dried figs soaked if dried
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
For the Creamy Layer
  • 1 cup milk whole, almond, or oat milk
For Sweetening (Optional)

Equipment

  • medium saucepan
  • fine mesh sieve
  • Measuring Cups

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Wash your fresh figs under cool water, then chop into smaller pieces. If using dried figs, soak them in warm water for about 10 minutes.
  2. Combine the chopped figs, 2 cups of filtered water, and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract in a medium saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Let the fig and vanilla mixture simmer for approximately 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into another bowl or pitcher, pressing figs to extract as much liquid as possible.
  5. Return the strained liquid to the saucepan and add 1 cup of your choice of milk. Gently heat over low-medium heat, stirring constantly until warm.
  6. Taste your Fig Vanilla Milk Tea and add sweetener if desired, stirring until dissolved.
  7. Pour into your favorite cup and garnish with a slice of fresh fig or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
