Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare your choice of vanilla or chocolate cake according to package instructions. Allow the cake to cool completely at room temperature for 1–2 hours.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the crumbled cake with frosting until you achieve a dough-like consistency. This might take about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Roll the cake mixture into 1 inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or freeze for 30 minutes.
  4. Melt a small amount of candy coating or chocolate. Dip one end of each lollipop stick into the melted coating and insert into the center of each chilled cake ball.
  5. Melt the candy melts or white chocolate until smooth. Dip each cake pop into the coating, allowing excess to drip off. Before the coating sets, add mini chocolate chips for eyes and buttons.
  6. Press a peanut butter cup onto each cake pop for a hat. Use piping chocolate for smiles or scarves. Allow to dry completely before serving.
