- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top to allow even cooking.
- Arrange the thick-cut bacon strips on the wire rack and bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy and golden. Crumble the cooked bacon into small pieces.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt unsalted butter. Add brown sugar, cayenne pepper, and vanilla extract, stirring continuously until it simmers and thickens.
- Line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper. Spread crumbled bacon evenly and pour the caramel mixture over, distributing it evenly.
- Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the caramel is bubbly and golden brown.
- Cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then break into bite-sized chunks to serve.
