Description

Savory Marsala Meatloaf is a flavorful dinner delight made with a blend of ground beef and pork, seasoned with herbs and topped with a delicious Marsala wine sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup Marsala wine
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, milk, parsley, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix until well combined but do not overmix.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the Marsala wine, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour half of this sauce over the meatloaf, reserving the other half for later.
  5. Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 1 hour. After 30 minutes, brush the remaining sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Continue baking until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  7. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a healthier twist, substitute half of the ground beef with ground turkey.
  • To add extra flavor, mix in 1/2 cup of finely chopped mushrooms into the meat mixture.
