Description
Delicious and spicy Honey Jalapeño Turkey Burgers topped with creamy avocado crema, perfect for a summer barbecue.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 jalapeño pepper, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
- 1 avocado
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, honey, chopped jalapeño, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the turkey patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare the avocado crema. In a blender or food processor, combine avocado, sour cream, lime juice, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a turkey patty on each bun, topping with avocado crema, and garnishing with fresh cilantro. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix in shredded cheese or chopped herbs into the turkey mixture before forming patties.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, leave some seeds in the jalapeño or add a dash of hot sauce to the avocado crema.
