Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture.
- Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the milk.
- Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 3-4 times until it comes together.
- Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
- Cut out biscuits using a round cutter or a glass.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are touching for soft edges.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese to the dough.
- You can also brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter before baking for an extra golden finish.
