Description

A fun and delicious recipe for Cookie Monster Cinnamon Rolls that combines sweet cinnamon rolls with chocolate chips and blue frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup blue frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough. Then, sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
  7. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams to seal.
  8. Cut the log into 12 equal slices and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Once baked, let the rolls cool slightly before drizzling with blue frosting. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, add crushed Oreos to the filling along with the chocolate chips.
  • If you prefer a cream cheese frosting, mix 4 oz of softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup powdered sugar and a splash of milk until smooth.
