Description
A delicious and indulgent breakfast bake made with chocolate croissants, perfect for a sweet morning treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 large chocolate croissants, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- Place the cut croissant pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissant pieces, ensuring they are evenly soaked. Gently press down on the croissants to help them absorb the liquid.
- Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly over the top of the mixture.
- Allow the mixture to sit for about 10-15 minutes to soak up the liquid.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- For a fruity twist, add 1 cup of fresh berries (like raspberries or strawberries) to the croissant mixture before baking.
- Substitute almond milk or oat milk for a dairy-free version, and use dairy-free chocolate chips if desired.
