Description

Baked Taco Cups are a delicious twist on traditional taco night, featuring a crispy wonton shell filled with seasoned ground beef and topped with fresh ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 package wonton wrappers (about 30 wrappers)
  • Cooking spray
  • Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños, avocado, cilantro

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a muffin tin with cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the taco seasoning and water to the skillet. Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
  4. While the beef is cooking, gently press a wonton wrapper into each muffin tin cup to form a shell.
  5. Fill each wonton shell with a spoonful of the beef mixture, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Carefully remove the taco cups from the muffin tin.
  8. Top each taco cup with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and a dollop of sour cream. Add any optional toppings as desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef, and use low-fat cheese.
  • Experiment with different fillings by adding black beans, corn, or sautéed peppers to the beef mixture for added flavor and texture.
